Sarah McLachlan’s song Angel, famous for being the music behind those commercials to raise money for stopping cruelty to animals, is a song about a drug-addicted individual who uses drugs to escape from the pain of this world. There is so much pain in this world, and ironically drug addiction just deepens that darkness for those who turn to it.
This week in our series The God Questions, we talk about this difficult barrier to faith. If God is good, and God is all-powerful, then why is there so much darkness in this world? Often this question is based on the pain we have seen in the life of a loved one – pain that was so undeserved. Why does God allow this to happen to us and those we love?
