Sometimes we need to be sure: guessing or wondering is not enough because of what is on the line. Before a doctor says we have cancer there are tests. Before we let someone BE a doctor there are tests. When the stakes are high, we need to eliminate any doubt.
The disciple John gives three tests to those in his church, three checks to know if they are connected with God and living in His light for eternity. We need to be sure, friends, so let’s test our hearts to be sure we have eternal life.
